AIR in our Community

Aquidneck Island Robotics  is the only comprehensive FIRST community organization in the Rhode Island and SE Massachusetts area. We draw students from Narragansett, Warwick, and Providence, RI to Freetown, MA with the majority of our students coming from the Aquidneck Island area.

Team 78 takes our role in our community very seriously. Being a community team, all our students have to make a conscious decision to join, and a concerted effort to participate – and so they truly value the experience and education they receive.

Outreach is a key part of AIR’s activities – as evidenced by our own team 78 receiving seven blue banners for winning Chairman’s Awards. But our outreach isn’t about winning awards, it’s about the rewards. 

FRC Team 78, as well as our FLL and FLL Jr teams take responsibility for spreading the word about STEM, Robotics and FIRST to Rhode Island and beyond. Here are just a few of Aquidneck Island Robotics outreach and community activities including:

Community project highlights:

  • Partnership with The International Tennis Hall of Fame and TeamFAME

  • Hosting FRC Kick-off events with other FRC Teams

  • Aquidneck Island Robotics First Annual STEM Fair

  • Middle School Demonstrations to encourage involvement in FIRST

  • Supporting efforts of The Confetti Foundation

  • Regional FRC partnership with FIRST Ladies

  • Community Outreach events such as, Junior Achievement Inspire Day, Robot Block Party, and Bring Your Child to Work Day at NUWC

  • Annually Hosting and Volunteering for a Rhode Island State FLL qualifier

  • Inviting teams to FLL pre-season scrimmages
